#SheCreates: Facebook launches e-book spotlighting women’s achievements across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey

Facebook developed an e-book featuring 26 women from across the media and entertainment industries to mark International Women’s Day.

To commemorate the achievements of women from the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Facebook has developed an e-book featuring 26 women from across the media and entertainment industries. Designed to mark International Women’s Day, the e-book serves as a source of inspiration and includes an account of the spotlighted women’s experiences, words of encouragement, as well advice for those wishing to follow in their footsteps.

The launch of the e-book comes on the back of the #SheCreates event held in December, one of the many efforts by Facebook to showcase the power of deep, meaningful connections made on the platform and its family of apps. Though the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic threatened to reverse decades of progress, women globally joined forces across Facebook’s family of apps to support and uplift one another. Each with their own story to tell, the women built their communities, grew their businesses, created movements, and inspired future generations to come together as they overcome unforeseen challenges.

Moon Baz, Strategic Partner Manager, MENA, Facebook, said: “This International Women’s Day, we’re amplifying the voices of a diverse group of women who are creating value across communities in the region. These are influential individuals who, in some way or another, have shown an ability to bring people together both on and off our platforms by creating change and leaving a resounding impact on the lives of others. Though our work around promoting greater inclusion is not tied to a single day, month, or year, we are pleased to be partnering with these women on this momentous occasion to support their journeys and achievements.”

In addition to the release of the e-book, a pre-recorded stream of Facebook’s #SheCreates event will be broadcast on Facebook Arabia on March 8th in celebration of International Women’s Day. The tailored initiative spotlights women who are creating change and paving the way as leaders in their fields, communities and businesses.

Derya Matras, regional director, Africa, the Middle East and Turkey at Facebook, said: “Every day is a day to celebrate and elevate women. The purpose of #SheCreates is embedded within its name – it’s shining a much needed spotlight on the incredible, daily impact of women around the region, the difference they make, and the change they create. Across all sectors and industries women are leading profound initiatives, growing businesses, and creating movements that touch the essence of this project: to inspire future generations of women for years to come. I am incredibly delighted and proud to play a part in bringing to light these brilliant women’s stories.”
