This summer, sports isn’t just the main event – it’s a new canvas for personal style shaping how users dress, socialise and express themselves.
Pinterest’s Summer 2026 Trend Report, in collaboration with Levi’s®, shows how sports is becoming a broader cultural language. Based off the search results of over 600 million monthly active users worldwide on the visual search and discovery platform, the report highlights how sports is influencing fashion, beauty, food and lifestyle trends.
Pinterest’s summer 2026 trend report:
The report suggests consumers are adopting sporting aesthetics beyond match days, incorporating elements such as football shirts, athletic silhouettes, motorsport-inspired fashion and tennis-inspired styling into their everyday wardrobes.
At the centre of it all is community. Sports is inspiring people to participate in a collective mood, one that feels social, expressive and full of momentum. The result is a summer where sports move fluidly from the sidelines into street style, becoming a shared source of identity, creativity and connection.
Fashion moves from the sidelines to the street
One of the strongest themes emerging from the report is the rise of what Pinterest describes as “off-duty summer denim”, where traditional sportswear is being paired with denim staples.
Users are searching for one-off details, from embellished jorts to patchworked pieces and vintage washes remixed with newer fits.
Searches for “denim shorts outfits women” increased by 430 per cent year-on-year, while interest in terms such as “denim jorts outfit” (+330 per cent) and “micro denim shorts outfits” (+453 per cent) also rose significantly.
Users also showed interest for outfit combinations featuring football jerseys, oversized shirts and national team apparel; with searches for “World Cup shirts” climbinng 840 per cent.
Football isn’t the only sport gaining attraction.
Pinterest recorded growing interest in tennis-inspired dressing, with searches for “tennis aesthetic outfit” rising 131 per cent, alongside increased demand for preppy staples such as striped polos, linen blazers and tennis skirts.
Beyond specific sports, Pinterest points to a broader sport-luxe direction influenced by ’90s and Y2K references.

Pinterest reported a 1,522 per cent increase in searches for “smoky eyes makeup”, “smudged eyeliner aesthetic” (+76 per cent) and “frosted makeup” (+97 per cent). These searches all point to a make-up style that is deliberately lived-in rather than precision.
Alongside these looks, users are increasingly interested in looks that blend practicality with bold styling.
Hair trends are also becoming more experimental, with searches for styles such as the “pixie cut baddie” increasing by 1,855 per cent and “halo hair colour” rising by 598 per cent.
Lifestyle, food and social rituals
The report also points to changing consumer habits around food and social gatherings.

Overall, Pinterest’s findings indicate that sport is no longer just entertainment. It is becoming a cultural framework through which people express identity, style and connection.
