Independent global creative communications agency The Romans has been awarded the PR, events, and activations account for the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah.
The Romans came out on top of a competitive pitch process that lasted three months to win the account for the world-famous hospitality and entertainment brand, prior to its highly anticipated launch on the shores of the Arabian Gulf.
Headquartered out of the UAE, The Romans will manage the project across multiple key markets in Asia, Europe, and MENA, including KSA, working with its offices in London and Amsterdam.
“This is a mouthwatering partnership. Wynn is one of the biggest and most important entertainment and hospitality groups in the world, and its move to the region has captured worldwide attention. When the brand showed us the plan and ambition we were hooked. Not only will this development change the face of the country’s hospitality sector, but it will also play a pivotal role in RAK’s evolution as the nation’s most loved Emirate,” said Joe Lipscombe, Partner at The Romans.
The remit will involve the build and launch of the fifth global Wynn resort, as well as being a key partner to the Ras Al Khaimah tourism ecosystem to tell the story of RAK’s evolution as a global entertainment destination.
“Despite the loaded hospitality and entertainment industry here in the UAE, Wynn is all anyone can talk about. We can’t wait to get started,” Lipscombe said.
The Wynn resort is set to open its doors in 2027, with The Romans handling communications across key markets from Q4 2024. The agency aims to galvanise the best talents, celebrities, and creators from its key markets to help build anticipation for what will be one of the most memorable launches in UAE history.
Wynn Al Marjan Island will have 1,542 rooms and well-appointed suites, 23 world-class dining, lounge and bar options, and the region’s first gaming facility. The group recently announced it had acquired a further 70 square acres of additional land on Al Marjan Island for future development.
Since the announcement of Wynn Al Marjan Island, numerous global hospitality groups have committed to the area, demonstrating what’s known as the ‘Wynn Effect’.
The Romans has a global headcount of more than 160, with offices located in London, New York, Amsterdam, and Dubai. The agency’s specialisms include consumer, corporate and reputation, sports and social, and its client list includes Unilever, Snapchat, Dove, LIDL and Binance.
