Mountain Dew creates first field with both Indian and Pakistani cricket turf

Using a historic stadium in the UAE, the drinks brand called it the 'common ground'

Mountain Dew turned Sharjah Cricket Stadium into the first field with both Indian and Pakistani cricket turf, celebrating the two countries’ love of the sport and uniting the communities.

The cricket stadium has played a significant role, especially for Indians and Pakistanis, which are two of the UAE’s biggest expat communities.

The stadium has seen more iconic cricket moments between the two teams than any other venue in the world.

To celebrate its importance to the world of cricket, and to the fans here in the UAE, Mountain Dew turned it into the world’s first cricket field to have Indian and Pakistani cricket turf blended in.
It transformed the historic pitch and called it the ‘Common Ground’. Now, any match played at the Sharjah Stadium will be played on Indian and Pakistani turf, at the same time.
Mira Medhat, Head of Marketing in the Gulf region for PepsiCo. said, “This initiative blends Indian and Pakistani cricket turf, symbolizing the unity and passion for cricket that connects us all.

“Mountain Dew is dedicated to bringing fans together, and the Common Ground exemplifies this mission.”

To mark the launch of this new blended turf, UAE-based amateur players from both Indian and Pakistani communities were invited to be the first to play a match here. Like the turf, they too played as blended teams.

The excitement was brought back to Sharjah Cricket Stadium by live streaming a recent India vs. Pakistan match. Inviting fans from both communities to come watch the game together.

Proving the power sport has to unite us all.
