Snapchat has launched its new ‘After Dark’ feature, which will enable users to post exclusive content for their friends who have also posted on their stories after 8pm.
The feature will appear as a separate snap story, and will be a collection of late night story highlights.
Users who posted the After Dark story have access to view the snaps of friends when they have shared stories the following morning.
This serves as an interactive highlight reel of what users connections were up to the night before, which could be a good way to boost engagement among younger snap chatters.
It follows the BeReal active sharing approach, that encourages authentic images and live in-the-moment stories, which can help build stronger relationships through shared experiences.
The social media platform has also announced an update to ‘Memories’, its flashback feature which allows users to reflect on what they were doing any day exactly a year ago.
The company is also set to launch ‘Friendship Flashbacks’ that will surface throwbacks generated from the snaps saved between the user and their friend. The flashbacks will resurface directly in users conversations.
Snapchat continues to roll out new story features, enhance Bitmoji, introduce new ways to virtually interact with friends to help make the platform a connector for young users.
