McDonald’s swaps fine dining bills for a meal in latest campaign

McDonald’s UAE and FP7 McCann have launched a new campaign ‘After-Dinner Dinner’.

The campaign is a creative marketing strategy aimed at promoting late-night dining experiences at select McDonald’s branches in Dubai.

For a limited time, customers can present their expensive fine dining bill at the counter in exchange for a select free McDonald’s meal if they show a dinner receipt from earlier that same evening.

The idea was conceived by FP7 McCann Dubai, who first noticed the customer behaviour and decided to put a fun spin on it by poaching fine-dining customers from their usual hangout spots and sending them to McDonald’s.

Geo-targeted notifications alerted consumers to the truly satisfying meal around the corner, under the Golden Arches.

By leveraging the contrast between the upscale dining experience and the casual atmosphere of McDonald’s, the campaign aims to create a sense of satisfaction for customers, turning their expensive fine dining experience into an affordable moment.

This initiative encourages customers to explore late-night dining options at McDonald’s and also reinforces the brand’s positioning as a convenient and accessible choice for satisfying cravings at any time of the day.

By locating the participating branches near upscale restaurants, McDonald’s UAE aims to attract customers looking for a more affordable option after their upscale dining experience.

The campaign shows McDonald’s commitment to innovation in marketing and catering to diverse consumer preferences, while also highlighting the brand’s ability to create memorable and enjoyable dining experiences.

Chief creative officer at FP7McCann, Federico Fanti, said: “I’ve always gone to McDonald’s after some kind of event or outing because I’m guaranteed good food and a good time. So, when the team noticed that we all do the same thing, we knew that there was an insightful idea here. The fact that it’s the fine dining bill that unlocked the promotion made it witty and fun to engage with.”
