Instagram gives users more control with Grid Reordering and new Edits features

Instagram has rolled out a new grid reordering feature alongside updates to Edits, giving creators more control over content creation.

Instagram has released two new updates to its platform, giving users more control over how their content is displayed and managed.

The new ‘Reorder Grid’ feature allows users to rearrange content on their profile grid even after it has been published. To use the feature, users can head to their profile, tap and hold any post on the grid, select ‘Reorder Grid’ from the pop-up menu, and then drag and drop posts into their preferred positions.

The update gives creators, brands and everyday users greater flexibility to curate their profiles, showcase their best work and highlight key moments without having to delete and repost content. It also removes the pressure to publish posts in a particular order purely for aesthetic reasons.

Before the introduction of this feature, posts appeared in chronological order, with limited options for controlling what visitors saw first. The primary workaround was Instagram’s pin feature, which allows users to keep up to three posts fixed at the top of their profile while the rest of their content remains in chronological order.

Alongside the grid update, Instagram has also announced new features for its video editing app, Edits. The latest update gives creators greater control over audio, allowing them to import and save their own audio files and automatically match volume levels across clips and voiceovers.

The platform has also added more than 200 new sound effects, providing creators with additional tools to enhance their content. In addition, users can now search the font library to quickly find and apply their preferred typefaces, streamlining the editing process.

The feature began rolling out globally on 8 June and will be available to Instagram users on iOS and Android over the coming days.
