You are at the mercy of those who pay your salary. You “expediently accept standards that are lower than is desirable”. You accept to be bullied, harrassed and demoralised.

  • Hi Iain,

I do agree with you that bullies are getting away with murder, and I am a victim of such. starting from my intern days in the UK in 2008.
until now, I am an individual contractor and accepted meager wages so that i can get job after job.

I have always kept my word and believed in integrity. Got the ire of management a lot of times. I still believe that our industry has heart, honesty and the power to make a difference to lives and not just sell products.

with digital we have the greatest reach and the responsibility to touch lives. helping and giving back is the best feeling and experience ever compared to money and awards combined bec. it inspires other people and makes the deed itself pay it forward.

let’s give what is rightfully due- to agency people, media people, clients, etc. we’re all working so hard to make things happen that we forget honesty and kindness is the ultimate food for the soul.

thank you for this awesome write up.
