TikTok has launched a new music streaming service called ‘TikTok Music’ will be rolled out globally and is currently being tested in few markets including Australia, Mexico and Singapore.
The service allows users to play viral songs, discover personalised music recommendations and sync their music account to their existing TikTok account. It features the list of major record companies, including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music.
According to CNBC, “TikTok has plans to boost growth in other markets outside of the U.S. – its largest market – where Montana became the first state to ban the platform. Its CEO previously said the company will pour “billions of dollars” into Southeast Asia over the next few years.”
The new kind of music service combines music discovery with a list of over 1,000 artists and millions of tracks.
Users can listen, share and download the music they have discovered on the social media platform, as well as share their favorite tracks and artists with their community.
It also includes a Shazam-like feature that can identify music you are listening to. Similar to Spotify premium, TikTok Music allows users to download songs for offline listening and uninterrupted ad-free listening.
TikTok has social features that allow users to express themselves through comments and connect with other music lovers.
