Ooredoo has long been committed to technology democratization and the elevation of arts and culture, on which it will build using Snap’s advanced AR technology, its community platforms like Snapchat, and Snap’s diversity of creator tools. As a market pioneer in deploying 5G commercial services, Ooredoo will also be partnering with Snap Inc. in developing 5G-enabled AR experiences for its customers to showcase their unparalleled 5G network’s speeds and bandwidth.
Many of these experiences will be crafted around key cultural and social moments. Ooredoo and Snap Inc. will work together to blend the physical and digital world through AR and create engaging, shareable experiences for their audiences. Separately, through its work with the National Museum of Qatar, Ooredoo is planning exciting AR activations with Snap to go live at on-site exhibits, again leveraging the power of 5G mobile connectivity.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We are excited to be partnering with Snap Inc. as part of our efforts to collaborate with like-minded technology companies to promote inclusive access to digital services, as well as develop innovative 5G services that improve our customers’ quality of life. We believe that Snap will help us to achieve our customer experience goals and create new value for the communities in which we operate.”
Nana Murugesan, Managing Director, International Markets at Snap Inc., said: “We believe that AR ultimately adds both entertainment as well as utility to people’s lives, and we are pushing the boundaries on both of these fronts by working with partners like Ooredoo. We have seen communities in the region truly embrace AR today, especially around events and places. As that happens, one of our priorities is making AR more accessible to individuals and businesses, which will be expanded through this strategic partnership with Ooredoo across multiple countries.”
Over the last 10 years, Snap has pioneered global innovation behind AR, and the capabilities it offers its community remain truly unparalleled in the market. Today, over 85 per cent of Snapchat’s MENA daily users interact with Lenses every day. Moreover, Snapchat offers brands one of the most effective ways to engage with a large, growing, and unique Millennial and Gen Z audience. Being one of the most used cameras in the world enables Snap and its partners to shape the future of how these communities experience the world around them.
