Gen Z has grown up in communities built around creators, livestreams and interactive entertainment, spending more time participating in culture than simply consuming it. For Jean Paul Gaultier, this presented an opportunity to rethink how fragrance could be introduced to a new generation in Saudi Arabia. Rather than relying on polished campaign films or traditional luxury media, the brand looked to Twitch – built on live interaction, shared experiences and community – to launch Le Male Elixir in a way that felt native to the audience it wanted to reach.
Much like Jean Paul Gaultier, gaming communities celebrate individuality, confidence and unapologetic self-expression, making Twitch a natural home for the Le Male Elixir brand. Working with Twitch Brand Partnership Studio and indie developer Springloaded Games, the brand created Le Male Island, a bespoke treasure island inside the upcoming game Let’s Build a Dungeon. Inspired by Le Male Elixir’s iconic nautical identity, the experience featured hidden treasure, sailor-inspired environments, collectible pixel-art fragrance bottles and an original sea shanty soundtrack. Instead of just advertising around gaming content, Jean Paul Gaultier embedded the brand directly into the gameplay, allowing players to discover the fragrance through natural in-game exploration.

The experience came to life through popular Saudi Twitch creators /3gaming and /swimy, who invited their communities to explore the island during sponsored livestreams. Viewers weren’t simply watching the activation unfold – they became part of it. Custom Twitch integrations enabled audiences to control sailor avatars through live chat commands in both Arabic and English, working together to uncover treasure while interacting with the creators in real time. The streams also featured live unboxings and first-impression fragrance reactions, introducing the product in a format that felt spontaneous rather than scripted. Even gifted Twitch subscriptions became part of the experience, rewarding participants while reinforcing the campaign’s community-first approach.

The result was a campaign built around community participation and engagement. Jean Paul Gaultier generated more than 27,000 video views, while custom Twitch integrations sparked 16,594 live chat interactions, turning viewers into active contributors throughout the campaign. Audiences also spent a combined 162,732 minutes watching the livestreams – equivalent to more than 3.8 months of continuous viewing – demonstrating the depth of engagement that interactive experiences can unlock. As luxury brands continue searching for authentic ways to connect with younger audiences, Jean Paul Gaultier’s campaign shows that cultural relevance isn’t achieved by borrowing attention from entertainment. It’s earned by becoming part of it.
