In Egypt, summer has its own rhythm. It is the sound of road trips, Sahel weekends, late-night drives, beach days and gatherings that somehow turn into sunrise. Spotify is tapping into that feeling with Your Summer Persona, a new personalised in-app experience that turns each listener’s summer vibe into a shareable identity.
The campaign was created to drive engagement and cultural relevance for Spotify in Egypt by placing the platform at the centre of summer music discovery. Rather than approaching summer as a generic seasonal moment, Spotify built the experience around the behaviours and rituals that define the season locally: who is always on AUX, who plans the next drive, who brings the energy to the gathering, and who prefers the slower, more relaxed side of summer.
“Summer in Egypt has its own rhythm. It is shaped by the drive, the destination, the people you are with and the songs that follow you from one moment to the next. With Your Summer Persona, we took those rituals and turned them into something you can see yourself in, a summer identity and a soundtrack that actually fits the way you spend the season,” says Umar Achraf, Consumer Marketing Egypt.
Now live in Egypt, the campaign asks listeners how they spend the season, then matches them to one of four summer personas, each with its own visual identity and playlist curated by Spotify’s editorial team.
There is King of the Road, the road-trip ringleader who is always planning the next drive and always on AUX. Sahel Superstar, the beach-club regular who brings the outfits, the energy and the North Coast mood. The Life of the Party, the main character of every gathering and the reason the night keeps going. And The Chill Master, the calm, easygoing listener drawn to slow beach days, bonfires, good conversations and zero pressure.
Each listener receives a shareable persona card that can be saved, sent to friends or uploaded to social platforms, turning the experience into a social moment as much as a music one.
The campaign is rolling out in two phases.
Phase one, Your Summer Persona, launched in July and invites users to answer summer-related questions before receiving their persona and matching playlist. Phase two, Your Summer Era, is planned to launch on August 1 and will use listeners’ Spotify data to reveal which musical decade their summer belongs to, from the 70s and 80s to the 90s, 00s and 10s.
The experience was supported across multiple touchpoints, including Spotify owned and on-platform media, paid social, influencer content, artist content and an on-ground experiential event.
To bring the campaign beyond the screen, Spotify partnered with e11vn to host an evening with Cairo’s creative community. Guests discovered their personas firsthand through interactive moments including live persona readings and the Summer Mailbox, where they answered prompts and dropped their responses into a custom Spotify mailbox. The night was soundtracked by DJ Jess and DJ Ali, who brought the songs of summer to life with special sets for the community.
The campaign also collaborated with pop artist Houda and influencers including Karim Sherif, Karim Kabbani and others, helping extend the experience beyond the app and into the social spaces where summer culture is already being shared.
Ahead of Spotify’s official Songs of Summer 2026 reveal, the platform’s editorial team also shared three early picks expected to soundtrack the season in Egypt: “Nano” by TUL8TE and Saint Levant, “Bahareya” by Mohamed Hamaki and Sherine, and “As You Know” by ZIAD ZAZA, TURK and KUKII.
Together, the in-app experience, creator content and IRL launch show how Spotify is using personalisation to connect with local culture in a way that feels playful, social and rooted in how people actually experience summer in Egypt.
