CNN Business Arabic (CNNBA) has officially gone live. CNNBA is operated by International Media Investments (IMI) in partnership with CNN International Commercial (CNNIC). The editorial team is led by editor-in-chief Maher Chmaytelli.
The digital business news platform will deliver global economic, business and finance news and analysis to millions of Arabic speakers across the globe. The dedicated digital business platform will be a source of business and economic news, facts and analysis in Arabic, covering areas of interest to the world’s Arabic speakers. It will cover a wide range of sectors including sustainability, green investment, cryptocurrency, Web 3.0, real estate, energy, technology and more. CNNBA can be accessed online at CNNBusinessArabic.com and on leading social media platforms.
The launch coincides with the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos held under the theme “Co-operation in a fragmented world”. At the heart of the first week’s programming will be a nine-part multimedia series addressing major global themes including the interconnected crisis of climate, food and energy, the risk of a global recession and the digital future. The series includes high-level interviews, explainers and interactive infographics.
In addition to its 24/7 news desk, providing breaking news about key markets and sectors, CNNBA offers engaging and insightful video programs and podcasts. Aimed not only at business-savvy audiences, it will give the general public access to content that unpacks and explain news in a clear and digestible way. Regular programming will include daily shows such as ‘Stock of the Day’, weekly programs such as ‘Decisionmakers’ which will be bringing exclusive interviews with business leaders, and monthly programs such as ‘TechnoIktissad’ and ‘10X’, providing a deeper dive into the metaverse, start-ups and more.
The editor in chief, CNNBA, Maher Chmaytelli, said: “This is an incredibly exciting moment for us and we are dedicated to providing high quality content that inspires and empowers Arabic speakers around the world, making CNNBA the go-to business news platform.”
Phil Nelson, chief operating officer, CNN International Commercial, said: “CNN Business Arabic is a new, complementary offering to both CNN’s business output and our engagement with Arabic speakers worldwide through our existing CNN Arabic platform. We wish IMI every success in this venture, and look forward to working with the team to bring a fresh approach to how Arabic audiences can access business news and information across a range of digital platforms.”
