Campaign’s Brand Faces to Watch 2023 – Sanam Hussain, Creative Designer, ThinkMarkets

Age: 27

Nominated by Gilda Castro Rios, Creative Manager:
Sanam has a great and positive attitude as she is an excellent team player. In a remarkably short period of time, Sanam has taken charge of branding and social media projects, she had transformed concepts into illustrations in no time and developed a style for the new branding that aligns with the necessities of the business.

She embraces feedback and displays a strong appetite for learning, constantly seeking out new knowledge and visual solutions to any creative challenges. She is a very collaborative person and talented designer with a big interest in learning and succeeding.

Career highlights

I am a Dubai-born and based graphic designer who has collaborated with brands such as VOX Cinemas and Oatly. As a designer for ThinkMarkets, an award-winning finance broker – being in finance does not mean that the design has to be boring!

I try to break barriers and stereotypes as a graphic designer. I was entrusted with designs for LFC despite being a girl with very little knowledge when it comes to football, as well as Arabic designs despite it not being my first language. My lack of knowledge or skill only invoked my curiosity to learn and execute more, it never limited me.

Guiding principles

Just two words: growth mindset. Coming from an ultra-conservative background where women are mainly appreciated for their domestic pursuits alone, it never stopped me from being ambitious and happily chasing goals! I believe in discarding a fixed mindset and being kind to myself and others.

Side hustle

As a foodie, I have a niche in creating designs for food and beverage firms as a freelancer. I also love to creatively organize, and one of my related typographic projects was featured on Marie Kondo, my role model! My long-term goal is to run a design studio with more womanpower.
