Campaign Middle East rounds up the latest AI platform updates from May. Here are the key highlights:
OpenAI:
OpenAI introduced a series of updates to ChatGPT, including enhanced memory capabilities, new shopping features within ChatGPT Search, and expanded integrations with third-party services such as Dropbox, GitHub and Google Drive.
The updates aim to create a more personalised and connected user experience, allowing users to retrieve information, conduct research and complete tasks without leaving the platform.
Canva:
Canva announced the next step in their collaboration with Anthropic, bringing the power of Canva Design Engine and Visual Suite into the newly launched Claude Design by Anthropic Labs.
This move makes it easier for users to turn AI-generated drafts and ideas in Claude into fully editable designs in Canva, where they can be customised, brought on-brand, and collaborated on, and then ready to share or publish.
Following the integrations with Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot, Canva shortly also announced their latest integration with Google Gemini, making it easier to move from idea to finished design in a single, connected flow.
Powered by Canva’s MCP Server, the platform’s AI Connector now works directly inside the Gemini app. Users can stay in design flow as Gemini connects securely to their Canva account so they can generate new designs, find and summarise existing content, make edits through natural language prompts, repurpose designs for different platforms, and turn Gemini-generated images into editable layouts, all without leaving the conversation.
Google:
Google has announced Gemini as the official Technology Sponsor of the National Football teams of Iraq and Morocco. This sponsorship will leverage Google’s cutting-edge AI technology to celebrate the region’s rich sports culture and transform the fan experience.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, Google Gemini – Google’s multimodal AI assistant – will bridge the gap between the teams and their global fanbases.
Anthropic Labs:
Anthropic launched Claude Design, a new AI-powered creative workspace that allows users to create designs, presentations, prototypes and visual assets through conversational prompts.
The company also expanded integrations with platforms including Canva, enabling users to move more seamlessly from AI-generated ideas to fully editable creative work.
Meta:
Meta has announced new measures to better support teens and parents around AI experiences across its platforms.
The updates include new supervision features that allow parents to view the topics their teens have discussed with Meta AI, expert-developed conversation starters to encourage open discussions about AI, and the launch of an AI Wellbeing Expert Council to help guide safer AI experiences for teens. Meta also reiterated its ongoing work on parental alerts for certain sensitive AI-related conversations.
