1 Renna Mobile: Billion things to talk about

“An absolute treat to gaze upon,” wrote Digitas LBi’s Simon Attwater in Private View. “I can almost taste the chilli tang and smell the tuk-tuk fumes. Proof, if ever we needed it, that a well painted picture can speak a thousand words.”

2 Lifebuoy: Handle on hygiene

Memac Ogilvy Dubai’s work for domestic hygiene brand Lifebuoy won the Lynx Grand Prix for outdoor. A branded widget on supermarket trolley handles used hand sanitiser to disinfect them for customers shopping in Carrefour supermarket. “It didn’t behave like the other outdoor pieces,” said jury president Susan Credle.

3 Qatar Islamic Bank: Star pattern/Arabesque/Geometric motifs

Qatar Islamic Bank’s seatbelt safety campaign “found a new way to talk about buckling up,”said Susan Credle, president of the print jury at the Dubai Lynx festival, where the campaign from Memac Ogilvy & Mather won a grand prix this year.

4 GE Argentina: Fragrance

Two Wunderman offices, in Dubai and Buenos Aires, teamed up for General Electric Argentina. The crisply executed print campaign highlighted how cooking can make you smell of your dinner. But not with a GE oven hood.

5 Dubai Holding: The tilted poster

Dubai Holding organises SkyRun, a vertical marathon where participants have to race up all 1,334 steps of Jumeirah Emirates Towers. For the 2016 race, Nomads Dubai designed a poster that looks like it’s hanging crooked, until you notice that its die-cut edges depict a staircase. Participation rose 25 per cent on 2015.

6 BKP: Sound design

“If you can say it we can hear it,” runs the tagline on this ad for sound studio BKP, by Livingroom Communications. In Private View, TBWA/Raad’s Manuel Borde wrote that the ad “tapped into the impossibly detailed or absurd audio requests creative sometimes brief audio production companies”.

7 Tathqeef: Veils of pride

To celebrate Emirati Women’s Day, Grey Dubai interviewed eight women and converted their words into calligraphy in the shape of their headscarves. The project showcased the achievements and ambition of local women and encouraged others to look beyond their abayas.

8 DXH: Embrace life

BPG Bates’ print campaign for Dubai Health Experience aimed to showcase the emirate’s position as the fourth most-visited city for medical tourism. Print, outdoor and online ads emphasised Dubai’s “warm hospitality and peaceful environment” that promises to help visitors “embrace life to the fullest”.

9 Property finder: Stop searching, start finding

Dubai-based real estate portal Propertyfinder.ae rolled out this campaign across outdoor, print and social media to inject some humour into house hunting. The ads start with the phrase, “Find a home faster than…”

10 The Galleria: Exuding the essence of luxury

The Galleria used series of portraits by photographer Adam Browning-Hill of seven local influencers to “radiate the range of diverse and luxurious splendour on offer” at the high-end Abu Dhabi mall.
