OMD Egypt’s managing director Tarek Jaffar has been promoted to the role of chief executive officer, effective immediately, the media agency network has revealed.
During his 13-year tenure at the group, Jaffar has risen through the ranks from the role of a business unit director to taking up the mantle of a CEO of OMD Egypt.
Most recently, as managing director, he drove the agency’s expansion along several axes of development. Under his leadership, OMD built its client portfolio adding, retaining, and growing major accounts, including McDonald’s, Savola, Madinet Nasr, and Banque Misr.
This led to a 4x rise in staff numbers and the rapid diversification and further sophistication of the agency’s service and product offering. Together with his carefully picked team, Tarek delivered significant market share gains, revenue growth and multiple awards and accolades, the network told Campaign Middle East.
Saleh Ghazal, CEO of OMD MENA. said, “In the past 18 months alone, OMD Egypt was awarded Agency of the Year and picked up two Effie Awards. These could not have been achieved without Tarek’s dexterity in navigating economic pressures, his obsession with clients’ success and fostering the right culture with his team.”
As CEO, Jaffar will continue to leverage his experience and strategic insights to drive innovation, further strengthen its culture of excellence, and create what’s next for its clients, staff, and the market as a whole.
He will work closely with the board of directors and the executive team to set the strategic direction for the company and ensure it remains at the forefront of media advancements.
Tarek Jaffar, CEO of OMD Egypt, said, “In a market as exciting as Egypt, we’ve had plenty of opportunities to innovate and go above and beyond. What’s even more thrilling is that there’s plenty more we can and will do to elevate everybody’s game, our teams, our clients, and our business partners.”
“Be it data, tech, creativity, content and, of course, AI, we will leave no stone unturned to achieve the highest levels of performance and impact. The best part is we know we can,” he added.
