Meta’s new AI tools for advertisers explained

By Jalaja Ramanunni

Meta has introduced new tools and features for advertisers and marketers, along with a testing playground – the AI Sandbox.

Meta’s AI Sandbox enables advertisers to use early versions of the AI tools to generate alternative copies, create backgrounds through text prompts, and crop images for their Facebook or Instagram ads.

Meta’s new AI tools

Meta has been working with a small group of advertisers on three AI Sandbox tools so far: text variation, background generation and image outcropping.

Text variation: The use of text variation allows advertisers to create multiple versions of their copy, enabling them to choose the one that resonates best with their target audience.

Background generation: The background generation tool uses text inputs to produce images. It allows advertisers to try a variety of backgrounds more quickly and diversify their creative assets.

Image outcropping: This feature lets advertisers easily resize their images to fit perfectly across Meta’s various platforms. It eliminates the need for advertisers to make multiple adjustments when posting the same image on different platforms, such as Instagram’s main feed, Stories, and Reels. Instead, they can simply modify one image to fit all three formats

Currently, the company is working with a small group of advertisers to gather feedback and improve these products, with plans to gradually expand access to more advertisers starting in July.

New features on Meta Advantage

Last year Meta consolidated its automated products under this the Meta Advantage portfolio. Meta announced new features that can enable advertisers to take advantage of AI quicker, and measure campaign results easily. The new features include the ability to use video creative in catalog ads, measure performance and reach target groups with ‘Audience Controls’.
