Instagram rolls out multi-caption carousels, profile grid reordering and new audience insights tools for creators.

All those days spent agonising over the perfect Instagram caption to accompany a carefully curated photo dump may finally be over.

With Instagram’s latest update, users can now add multiple captions within a single carousel post. Each image or video in a carousel can have its own contextual caption, allowing creators to add more specific commentary to individual slides.

To try the feature, users can create a carousel, head to the caption section, enable the multiple captions toggle, and add unique text to each slide. With carousels now supporting up to 20 images or videos, users can add as many as 20 individual captions to a single post.

Other updates include the new ‘Reorder Grid’ feature, which allows users to rearrange content on their profile grid even after it has been published. To use the feature, users can head to their profile, tap and hold any post on the grid, select ‘Reorder Grid’ from the pop-up menu, and drag and drop posts into their preferred positions.

Alongside the grid update, Instagram has also announced new features for its video editing app, Edits. The latest additions provide deeper audience insights, including follower demographics, peak engagement times, and the ability to export data as a PDF. Creators can also compare the performance of a reel against their previous three posts.

The update also gives creators greater control over audio, allowing them to import and save their own audio files, while automatically matching volume levels across clips and voiceovers.
