Dubai has announced a new strategy that will boost the media sector’s economic contribution and attract more talent to the industry.
The strategy and action plan for Dubai media landscape, formerly known as Dubai Media Incorporated, has been authorised by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
The plan seeks to increase foreign direct investments (FDIs), position Dubai as a key global media hub, and double the sector’s contribution to the city’s GDP.
It also aims to develop media skills and talent, improve intellectual property in local media, and increase the number of UAE citizens employed in the media sector.
The statement regarding the news said, “The strategy seeks to advance the Council’s objective to foster greater creativity in the sector and broaden strategic partnerships to bolster Dubai’s position as a hub for talent in the industry.”
“The new strategy for Dubai Media includes legislative aspects to keep pace with the changes shaping the industry, ” said Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council.
The plan also addresses the creation of e-games and a thorough review of all the material created by Dubai Media.
“The Dubai Media Council is actively working to accelerate the implementation of the new Dubai Media strategy,” Al Marri added.
