DDB Egypt causes a stir with Lipton

In its latest ad spot for Lipton, DDB Egypt plays into tea culture predominant in the country.

An axis point for everyday life and in every life event, It is a staple of the Egyptian household. So, the spot aims to re-introduce it in a new way that appeals to everyone without sounding extra or redundant.

In the light-hearted ad, the agency based its communication strategy on an insight that’s relevant to Egyptians, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, the month full of blessings, forgiveness, gatherings, and lots of food.

With many of the Egyptians loving the feasts that accompany the month of Ramadan and can’t resist the banquet. They end up doubling their portion sizes just to make up for missed meals, to the point where they can’t even function and start lagging they drink that heavenly cup of sunshine “Lipton Tea”.

The ad says, if your lag can’t be fixed, fix yourself a cup of Lipton.

It also makes the ordinary cup of Lipton tea a focal point that can gather loved ones in an atmosphere that is filled with warmth, blessings, and fun times. DDB built the whole communication around a local tea jargon
(علق على الشاي) which is deeply rooted in Egyptian culture. In DDB’s words, this has never been touched by any tea brand as if it were waiting for Lipton to own it.
