Campaign’s PR Faces to Watch 2021 — Marwa Darazi, Account Executive, Gambit Communications
Nominated by Jamal Al Mawed, Founder & Managing Director, Gambit Communications
Marwa is an impressive young talent with fantastic technical skills that she’s picked up growing up in Lebanon and studying such a rich discipline as landscape architecture. She also has impressive social skills and an understanding of the new digital landscape, which makes her a huge asset to the team. Her resilience in the face of challenges and even criticism means she can handle tough client situations despite her relatively young age. The sky is her limit.
After graduating from the American University of Beirut with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, I shifted careers towards my passion: PR, events and luxury. I was intrigued to see how my eye for design can contribute positively to the PR world, which led me to join Mariana Wehbe PR and to successfully handle international clients such as Nimerology, Gabriel et Guillaume and Nabil Dada Interior Architects. I joined Gambit Communications earlier this year to work on Ferrari’s regional PR, which is pretty exciting! I’m looking forward to growing with the Gambit team in the coming years.
‘Never ignore your gut instinct’ – I believe that my intuition somehow already knows what I truly want to become and has been subtly guiding me towards it. There’s no place for ‘what ifs’ and this is why I am where I am today.
How has Covid changed your job?
The struggle I faced during Covid was coming up with creative solutions to keep our clients on top of their game. It was definitely challenging but my passion for my job only grew, and I managed my time patiently to juggle the chaos calmly.
Following the Beirut blast of 2020, I helped set up an NGO called Bebw’shebbek, which repairs the broken glass at homes all over Beirut from the port explosion – so far repairing over 600 homes. It’s a passion project that I’m really proud of, as it’s made a difference in the lives of people in the place they need it the most – their homes.
