Y&R Dubai and MEC have won the creative advertising and media buying and planning accounts for Al Jazeera Sports.
The appointments follow a competitive pitch that was called in June. Y&R has been tasked with promoting the network’s mission, image and the events its broadcasts, with the media side of the business to be handled by MEC. There was no incumbent agency on the creative account, although different agencies have worked on various projects for Al Jazeera as a whole over the years. Nobody at Al Jazeera Sports was available for comment.
Al Jazeera Sports was first launched in 2003 by the Al Jazeera Network and has since expanded to encompass 15 free-to-air, pay-TV and high definition channels.
