TikTok introduces new digital series to support surge of online educational content

#LearnOnTikTok Live Show gives users the opportunity to learn new skills from experts around a variety of topics.

TikTok, a destination for short-form mobile video has launched a new live series to support the recent surge in educational content on the platform and encourage users to learn through TikTok. Building on the increasing popularity of educational content on the platform, TikTok is hosting live sessions every week starting 25th February 2021, during which popular regional celebrities and influencers will collaborate with TikTok creators in educating users on topics such as beauty, food, fitness, and music.

In 2020, with the onset of the pandemic, TikTok witnessed a shift in the way creators consume and create content on the platform, with knowledge sharing and education seeing a massive growth of 300 per cent. As a result, a new learning trend emerged as the fully immersed, tech-savvy TikTok community seeks life coaching tips, photography tricks and even learn new languages through 15 to 60-second TikToks. The educational challenge which goes by the name #LearnOnTikTok has garnered over 66 billion views to date.

Rami Zeidan, head of video and creative at TikTok said: “As people spent more time indoors during the pandemic, there emerged an upward trend in the demand for educational content on TikTok which has been very exciting to witness. We have always envisioned TikTok to be a platform that not only inspires its users to get creative, but also helps increase their knowledge through content from other creators. The #LearnOnTikTok Live Show has been designed to enable users to discover new interests and passions while learning from regional experts in popular fields. We are confident our users will capitalize on this weekly opportunity and we look forward to new talents emerging on TikTok over the coming weeks.”

Each episode of the weekly live show will be divided into 3-4 segments which will be recorded from a specially designed #LearnOnTikTok studio and hosted by Mahira Abdel Aziz, who is a presenter on Al Arabiya TV.
