Leo Burnett Cairo and Y&R win at Clios

The region’s advertising agencies have only managed to land one silver and one bronze at this year’s Clio Awards in New York.

The silver went to Leo Burnett Cairo in the print category for its Egyptian ‘burger’, ‘hotdog’ and ‘pizza’ campaign for Heinz, while Y&R Dubai grabbed a bronze for its ‘Wolves’ work for Harvey Nichols (pictured).

The lack of any golds will be disappointing for Leo Burnett Cairo, which had seen its ‘The Mother of All Foreign Films’ campaign for Melody Aflam shortlisted.

This year’s agency of the year was AlmapBBDO, São Paulo, while the advertiser of the year was Nike and network of the year BBDO Worldwide.

  • Interesting to see this on the new site, because I was casually thumbing through a recent issue of Campaign ME yesterday when I got to ‘The Work’ segment. I was struck with something I had seen before. An ad, but one I had seen before, or thought I had anyway, and then I remembered, I had seen it on a blog from an artist named Cai Guo-Qiang who had exhibited in the Guggenheim. The ad in question is the ‘Wolves’ one for Harvey Nichols. I read through the description comments by Tim Stokes of PlayStation MEA and Ramzi Moutran to see if I could see a credit for the artist. I couldn’t.

The resemblance is striking! Take a look.

I think there should be a credit somewhere for this artist’s work let alone for the original photographer Hiro Ihara’s composition. Especially now that ‘Wolves’ has also been shortlisted at Cannes.
