Golin’s Yiannis Vafeas bows out of Horizon

Long–term veteran Yiannis Vafeas has announced that his journey with Horizon Group has come to an end.

In a  post on Linkedin, Vafeas announced his departure from the Group as the Vice-President of Golin MENA after more than 15 years in the agency.

Vafeas said that he wished to use the platform to honour his journey at the agency that was just completed.

He says, “It is common place to use social platforms to announce and celebrate new roles!

Contrary to that, I would like to use some “space” to honour a 15,5 years journey at Golin, that has just been completed.”

He began his journey at Golin MENA as the Senior Director – Public Relations, Business Development and Planning, before moving up the ladder as the Joint Managing Director, followed by Managing Director and finally, Vice President.

In his post, he highlights that through the move, he aims to transition into the next phase of his career.

“Navigating the concept of ‘Change’ has been a focal point of both my professional and academic interests. The time had come to apply this principle to my own life and embark on the gradual transition to the next phase of my career.”

He follows up in the post by expressing his gratitude for the agency, “Transition without expressing my deep gratitude for the Golin chapter is unthinkable.

“Golin and Horizon Group provided me with a transformative opportunity to evolve professionally, make decisions, learn from mistakes, lead, take ownership, and so much more… I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with immensely talented professionals across the MENA region and work alongside Goliners in every corner of the world.”

He also thanks other people who were part of his career in his post and ends the post with a “Cheers to honouring the past! Cheers to exciting times ahead!

However, Vafeas’s next move and future plans are yet to be disclosed.

Meanwhile, Horizon Holdings recently announced the appointment of a new Regional Managing Director, Stephen Worsley, who used to serve as the Asda’a BCW’s Senior Vice President.
