Shields has built his career at the intersection of strategy, partnerships, creativity, and technology. Most recently in Tokyo, he led Audible’s multi-million-dollar media business for WPP, building and managing a large team while forging content partnerships with global brands like Dell, Uber Eats, and IKEA. Prior to that, in Cape Town with GroupM, he worked with Netflix, Chevron, and Bvlgari – pioneering first-to-market campaigns that won industry recognition across media, experiential, and new social formats.
On joining Fusion5, David said: “The agency model is changing faster than ever. To stay ahead, we need to rethink not only how we deliver value to clients but also how we structure and support our teams.”
“With MENA ad spend projected to grow by 8 per cent in 2025, and digital driving nearly two-thirds of that growth, independents like Fusion5 are perfectly positioned to lead the way.”
“I’m excited to help shape new models that balance AI-driven efficiency with the human creativity and culture that truly set us apart,” he concluded.
