Cairo-based Digital Republic has won accounts with four flagship brands under the regional umbrella of Unilever.
The independent digital agency, which also has an office in Dubai, will also handle Unilever Careers social media portals to build its presence across the MENA region. It will be responsible for all social media at Unilever Careers, covering creative, strategic planning and digital production.
The main wins, however, are the creative, social media planning and digital production accounts for Unilever’s Axe Gulf, Rexona for Men, Rexona for Women and Knoor brands.
All accounts will be managed via the agency’s Dubai office, which was set up last year to support a demand from regional and multinational brands seeking a localised, multi-lingual solution for online communications and digital support.
Speaking about the wins, Karim Khalifa, CEO at Digital Republic, said: “Being again appointed directly by Unilever illustrates our flexibility and level of experience in this space. These additional wins represent an opportunity for us to again work directly with brands we love, especially those that have the potential to create some amazing and engaging work such as Unilever. So our objective will be to retain the global appeal of the respective brands while offering a local connect.
“By facilitating an interaction between the brand and its customers through creativity and cutting-edge technology expertise, we hope to do just that,” he added.
The careers portal acts as a hub and ‘channel’ for Unilever’s HR and internal management to communicate and attract prospective employees. The agency aims to interact with university students and potential candidates to raise awareness of employment at Unilever and its career-related initiatives.
Digital Republic was established in Cairo in 2009 and is Egypt’s largest independent digital agency. Its clients include McDonald’s and Coca-Cola.
