Global hotel giant JW Marriott unveiled its latest venture into branded content with the premiere of its short film Two Bellmen Two in Dubai yesterday.
The hotel group’s Content Studio, which is headed up by former Disney executive David Beebe, showcased the 20-minute sequel to the original Two Bellmen at its main filming location of the Marriott Marquis in Business Bay, Dubai.
Film bosses have so far remained tight-lipped on the film’s budget, though Campaign understands the project cost “close to” a million US dollars and was funded in part by Dubai Tourism and Emirates.
While Slumdog Millionaire star Frida Pinto, in the role of a businesswoman-in-distress is the project’s biggest name, the film almost entirely focuses on the antics of the stuntmen-turned-bellmen William Spencer and Caine Sinclair.
The film even stars Dubai comedian Ali Al Sayed to help maximise its appeal to the regional market.
The latter three stars, alongside Beebe, attended the Dubai premiere, though Pinto was absent due to her attendance of The World Economic Form in Davos on behalf of her nonprofit work.
The full film will be released on YouTube following the Hollywood premiere on February 4.
The trailer has already been viewed more than 700,000 times.
