Social conversations on the UAE vaccination race

A report on the vaccination race in the UAE presented by anavizio with data from Pulsar and Google Trends.

The UAE’s vaccination drive has generated positive buzz both online and offline. With over 3.44 Million of its residents vaccinated as of February 1, 2021, the country is speeding up its efforts to control this virus. The country has been providing both the Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines (in stages) to all residents for free.

“Vaccine” was one of the most popular keywords among social media conversations in the UAE and a quick search on Google Trends showed how interest in this search has soared over the past 60 days.

 

Some of the most stand-out topics from the beginning has been concerns about safety, side effects and effectiveness of these vaccines.

The availability, side effects, comparisons of the two and the locations where you could get vaccinated were some of the rising queries on google trends.

The research on social media covering over 3,500 social media posts uncovered similar trends in conversations. Here are some of the top findings.

Female users on social media were concerned about the side effects of the vaccine, centers closer to their home or workplace, questioning eligibility for their children, house help, parents etc.

Male users were predominantly trying to find more information on where they could get themselves and their families vaccinated, followed by its side effects.
