Dubai-based gold and jewellery company Damas is reviewing the advertising account for its Farfasha brand.
The review is in the early stages, with a number of agencies having been approached to pitch for the youth orientated brand’s advertising brief. Damas confirmed that the review was taking place, but declined to comment further.
It is understood that the company is planning to re-launch the Farfasha brand in the third quarter of this year. In the past, pop star Nancy Ajram has been Farfasha’s brand ambassador, having originally signed up for Damas duties until the end of 2007. It is not known whether Ajram will be a brand ambassador going forward.
Damas has hit the headlines recently thanks to its efforts to reclaim $163.4 million owed to the company by its founding Abdullah brothers. It recently extended the payment date by a month to 31 May. An inquiry last year revealed that the Abdullah brothers owed the company a total of $167.2 million.
