In 2023, comedy legend John Cleese took the stage at Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity in March to share advice on how to inventive juices flowing to the region’s creative minds through his session, Creativity: A Short & Cheerful Guide by John Cleese.
At the heart of Cleese’s session was his belief that creativity is not an exclusive talent, but a skill anyone can develop. Drawing on decades of experience crafting comedy and storytelling, he offered practical advice on how to get into the right frame of mind, recognise ideas worth pursuing, and overcome creative blocks.
“You might think that creativity is some mysterious, rare gift – one that only a few possess. But you’d be wrong,” said, Cleese.
Now on March 18, 2025, the actor, writer, and comedian, best known for Monty Python, is returning to Dubai to grace the stage at Dubai Opera for An Evening with the Late John Cleese. Described as “the world’s funniest man,” Cleese will share hilarious anecdotes and highlights from his life and career.
Cleese made his first mark as a member of the legendary Monty Python Troupe in the 1960s and has gone on to write, produce, direct and star in some of the greatest comedic hits of the last 50 years-even receiving an Oscar nomination for the best screenplay for A Fish Called Wanda.
From films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian as well as the classic TV show Faulty Towers, many of John Cleese’s iconic cinematic moments are part of every-day pop culture across all generations.
Taking place on March 18, 2023, at Dubai Opera, the show starts at 5:00 PM and runs for approximately two hours, including an intermission. Tickets are available now, starting from AED 210 for Silver seats, with tiers going up to AED 570 for VIP. The event is open to individuals aged 16 and above.
