Anika Marya, Associate Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi: Before she joined us a few months ago, Katie was given a warning about the low ceilings in our office – she walked in tall, with an equal amount to say. And say she did, very, very well. A creative who has craft down to the T. She’s strategic, and has a way with words even when it seems impossible to find some. Her thinking is fresh, with strong ideation skills, and she’s quickly become a pillar on our brands as well as a mentor to younger creatives. Her energy is contagious, she brightens up even the most high-pressure situations.
I’m Copywriter with an adventure addiction. After getting my start at top agencies in Los Angeles and Chicago, I jumped at the opportunity to work in Dubai despite never even visiting the Middle East. Three years later, friends and family in the States still call my move certifiably insane but it’s led to some real career highlights including getting shortlisted for The One Show and being a See It Be It Finalist at Lynx. Dubai has exposed me to a world of creativity and culture I would have never known otherwise and that’s been the best part.
Find ways to weave what you love into what you do whenever possible. That can mean anything from taking a crazy opportunity abroad to travel or just writing dogs into scripts whenever possible.
I am a serial hobbyist which means my side hustles are fleeting. Though if you ask friends, I’m infamous for my epic cheeseboards and funny blog posts. Maybe one day I’ll find a way to monetize them.
