The partnership will bring Al Jazeera English 24-hour live news channel to ScreenHits TV’s platform. The content will be available via ScreenHits TV’s web and mobile apps, as well as its in-car entertainment offering.
Under the agreement, Al Jazeera programming will be accessible in connected vehicles, including select premium Porsche models such as the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne, as well as vehicles from Lincoln, Ford, Renault and Nio.
The deal reflects the growing importance of connected cars as a new distribution channel for media companies, as automakers invest in larger screens and premium content to enhance the in-vehicle experience. Live news and factual programming are increasingly seen as a natural fit for in-car viewing.
For Al Jazeera, the partnership extends its global footprint beyond traditional broadcast and home streaming environments, while giving automakers and consumers access to trusted international news across screens.
“Al Jazeera represents the highest standards of international journalism,” said Rose Hulse, founder and CEO of ScreenHits TV. “We are proud to bring its Al Jazeera English channel to our platform and make it available wherever audiences choose to watch.”
Commenting on the partnership, Ramzan Alnoimi, Executive Director of the Global Brand Division at Al Jazeera Media Network stated, “We hope that making Al Jazeera English content accessible via ScreenHits TV’s platform will provide its audiences with an opportunity to experience our in-depth news and award-winning programmes”.
The addition of Al Jazeera further strengthens ScreenHits TV’s portfolio of live and FAST channels as it expands its presence in streaming aggregation and connected vehicle entertainment.
