On Monday DDB Dubai duo Josephine Younes and Nayaab Rais walked away from this year’s Young Lions Competition at Cannes with a bronze.
It’s been a decade or so since a team from the UAE won anything in the print competition, and, although exhausted, the pair managed to send us this brief note before heading to the Google beach bar.
“We want to think of a more intelligible phrase to describe how it feels to win a Cannes Young Lions bronze. But we’re just going to go with ‘indescribably awesome’. PumpAid was a truly inspiring charity to work on, and you really should look them up to see what a brilliant change they are bringing to Africa.
“Big thanks to our families, DDB Dubai, Motivate Publishing, and honestly, everyone who helped us get here, even if only by an inch. Without you, well, we’d be an inch behind. This year’s Cannes campaign promised that great stories await delegates in 2011. And in just these few days, we have one worth recounting and reliving in the days to come.”

Hey You Gals!
My heartfelt congratulations to both of you on your success. We knew you had it in you and you did it. All I can say is that you were both truly awesome. Keep up the spirit and teamwork.
Wishing you ALL THE BEST IN THE YEARS TO COME.
