TikTok is getting ready to cut jobs in its operations and marketing departments, according to CNN.
The layoffs will mainly affect teams dealing with user support, communication, content, and marketing.
The global user operations team will be dissolved, with remaining employees reassigned to trust and safety, marketing, content, and product teams.
This news was initially reported by The Information, and TikTok hasn’t commented on it yet.
Some TikTok employees were informed about layoff plans after a report by The Information. Adam Presser, TikTok’s head of operations, and Zenia Mucha, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, sent a message to affected teams.
These layoffs had been planned for nearly a year, but recent turnover in marketing, trust and safety, and operations teams caused delays.
It’s unclear how many employees will be affected, but reports suggest a significant portion of the roughly 1,000 employees on those teams could be impacted. In 2023, TikTok stated it had 7,000 employees in the US.
