The majority of award-winners will be selected by an expert panel, with Best Fan Engagement at a Professional Sporting Event, E-Sports Team of the Year, and Twitter Sports Personality of the Year being public voted.

YouGov is the official partner for the event, with Twitter the official media partner, and Mai Dubai the exclusive hydration partner.

Sport360X managing director Bassam Nawfal said: “We are delighted to host the ninth edition of SPIA. The past couple of years have been difficult for the sports industry, but we have still seen organisations, clubs, and individuals doing amazing things. Just watching what has been done across the region has been inspirational, and it is now time to shine a light on everything that has been done to engage and entertain sports fans and participants over the last twelve months.  It is wonderful to be able to come together and celebrate these achievements and look forward to an exciting year ahead.”

Kinda Ibrahim, director, global content partnerships, MEA and Turkey at Twitter, commented on the partnership: “Twitter is the place to discover what’s happening, be it a cultural moment, live ceremony or a sporting event. We are thrilled to play an active role as the official media partner for the 2022 edition of the Sports Industry Awards. It is an honour to celebrate the accomplishments of these distinguished nominees and present the Twitter Sport Personality of the Year title to an influential individual sparking engaging regional conversations.”
