MEC wins Nestlé’s regional media account

MEC Dubai has landed the media buying, planning and digital engagement account for Nestlé Middle East.

The highly sought after business was put up for pitch in March this year, with most of the big media agency networks participating in the review. The incumbent on the account had been MediaCom.

The win comes as MEC, a WPP company and part of the Menacom Group in the region, celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Mohan Nambiar, CEO of MEC MENA, said: “We are truly honoured to represent Nestlé, a household name synonymous with quality and product excellence in the Middle East region. The win is doubly sweet, coming just as we turn 10 years of our operations. We will devote our energies and competencies to further strengthen Nestlé Middle East’s customer engagement through our specialised platforms and strong industry insights.”

Nestlé is the world’s largest food and nutrition company and has been present in the region since the 1930s, when it opened an operation in Lebanon. Nestlé Middle East was founded in 1997 in Jebel Ali Free Zone and serves as a regional hub to fulfil the needs of the GCC, Levant, Iran and Iraq.

MEC Dubai’s winning of the Nestlé account was followed shortly afterwards by MEC Abu Dhabi’s bagging of the Summer In Abu Dhabi brief for the second time.

Discussing MEC’s 10th anniversary, Joseph Ghossoub, chairman and CEO of the Menacom Group, said: “Over the past decade, MEC MENA has set benchmarks in the industry through its sustained thought-leadership. The success of MEC MENA is in its ability to understand the requirements of clients, media and consumers proactively and engage with them effectively. This will continue to be our growth approach as we move into the next decade, with a focus on adding more value to our clients and partners.”

MEC was created in 2002 from the merger of The Media Edge and CIA. MEC MENA, which is headquartered in The Gateway Building in Dubai Media City, has more than 220 employees covering 17 countries, and several specialist divisions, including MEC Interaction, MEC Access and Analytics and Insight.
