What will AED30 million get you at COP28?

There are plenty of sponsorship packages up for grabs, writes Campaign Middle East editor Justin Harper

For AED30 million, you can become the principal event partner of COP28, taking place in Dubai between 30 November and 12 December this year. So what do you get for that cash?

The package includes partner recognition on its ‘trophy wall’, speaking and selected brand mark opportunities and COP28 UAE gala event recognition among other benefits. You also get the option of hosting a reception and your own event.

If your budget doesn’t stretch to AED30 million then there are plenty of other event partnerships available for the UN’s annual climate change conference in Dubai. You could become a strategic partner for AED25 million, or an industry partner for AED15 million.

To be an ‘experience’ partner, you could choose the delivery option (transport, logistics etc) for AED5 million. This could mean providing the official cars for the summit – but make sure they are electric ones.

Or you could sponsor a feature area (such as a pavilion or stage) for AED10 million.

The cheapest sponsorship packages are for ‘supporting partners’ with a Climate Impact’ package costing AED1.5 million to AED5 million.

But it’s not just the money you need. Potential sponsors also have to prove their green credentials. According to COP28 UAE sponsorship details, it will welcome requests from organisations that are part of the Race to Zero initiative, or have equivalent commitments.

The Race to Zero is a UN-backed global campaign pushing organisations to take immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030.

The first event partners for COP28 will be announced at the end of May, with a second round announced in September.

Last year’s event, COP27, took part in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt and saw Coca-Cola as the main sponsor. Other major partners included Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group and Vodafone.
