Anonymous British graffiti artist Banksy’s Oscar-nominated Exit Through The Gift Shop is to kick off this year’s Dubai Lynx.
Billed as “the world’s first street art disaster movie”, the film was nominated in the best documentary category at this year’s Oscars and will be screened on 27 March thanks to an association with The National. Underground artist Banksy is famous for work such as the nine images he painted on Israel’s West Bank barrier in 2005. The images included one of children digging a hole through the wall.
The Dubai Lynx and accompanying Dubai International Advertising Festival will be held at the Madinat Jumeirah from 27 to 29 March. The event is organised by the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival together with its regional partner, Motivate Publishing.
Ah, the Dubai Lynx – what’s not to love about the great and good of the global ad scene gracing us with their stellar presence and inspiring with their well-chosen words of wisdom. And let’s face it, the only gender really up to the task are men, right? How else to explain that there’s not a single female voice taking to the podium this year? Really Cannes Lions, you couldn’t rustle-up a single woman to give perspective on the industry’s future? What a shame for us all. Good luck AdWomen Middle East, there’s a steep hill to climb yet.
