Balance the Mix to host Middle East’s first women’s workshop on music production

Just three per cent of music producers are women – a figure Balance the Mix is working to raise by 30 per cent over the next five years.

Balance the Mix, a not-for-profit organisation focused on equalising the gender disparity in the music industry, will host the Middle East’s first music production workshop for women this month as part of its ongoing commitment to championing and promoting under-represented music talent in the region.

Taking a closer look behind the scenes, the ratio of commercial artists is 78 per cent male and 22 per cent female, and of songwriters 86 per cent versus 14 per cent. In addition, just 3 per cent of music producers are women – a figure Balance the Mix is working to raise by 30 per cent over the next five years.
