Dubai-based experiential agency, The Hanging House, has appointed Jean Oosthuizen as General Manager. The move comes as part of the agency’s long-term growth strategy, which aims to expand into new GCC markets and broaden its client base internationally.
Oosthuizen brings more than 25 years of experience in the global events industry, having worked across luxury, automotive, hospitality, fashion, and museum sectors. His extensive background includes key roles in major projects such as Dubai Expo 2020 and COP16, as well as implementing experiential technology at Al Shindagha Museum to create immersive visitor experiences. He has also played an active role in CSR initiatives promoting inclusivity and cultural representation.
In his new role, Oosthuizen will be responsible for driving The Hanging House’s growth, focusing on new sectors such as retail, travel, museums, and sports. His experience in regional markets, particularly Saudi Arabia, where he helped scale an international agency, will be key to shaping the agency’s expansion.
Jean Oosthuizen said: “I’m thrilled to be joining The Hanging House, an incredibly exciting and fast-growing agency that is shaping what great looks and feels like for brand experiences. I look forward to playing an instrumental role here exploring the potential in new markets, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and growing our offer. Adaptability, resilience, and meaningful connections are the cornerstones of our strategy, and I’m committed to ensuring we deliver impactful experiences while driving sustainable progress.”
Husam Haris, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer added: “We’re really excited to be working with Jean as we continue our expansion. His experience, leadership, and vision align perfectly with our mission. It’s also a proud moment for us to be working with someone who has shaped our own journey in the events industry. Jean was actually my mentor during my studies at EMDI, and we are thrilled that he’s now joining our team as General Manager. It’s a full-circle moment. Not only are we building something bigger with his leadership, but we also get to work alongside someone who has always believed in our potential.”
The appointment of Oosthuizen marks the next step in the agency’s plans to establish a stronger presence across the GCC and deliver projects tailored to the cultural and commercial needs of each market.
