Gambit Communications has appointed Bassel Barakat as Senior Director, a strategic role that oversees flagship clients in the independent agency’s burgeoning portfolio.

Barakat has moved from Deloitte Middle East, where he led external comms, and brings more than 12 years of experience covering senior positions on both agency and brand side. The agency said Barakat brings an in-depth knowledge of the wider GCC region and has built and led communications strategies spanning brand reputation across B2G, B2B and B2C, with a specific focus on Saudi Arabia.

Barakat has also held several senior roles at global and regional communications agencies, where he served clients such as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Ferrari, Saudi Esports Federation, Saudi Football Federation, Saudi Ministry of Sports, Coca-Cola, Marriott International and Honeywell.

“Bassel’s career trajectory speaks for itself,” said Jamal Almawed, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gambit Communications.

“His work has been recognised by industry bodies and titles like MEPRA, SABRE Awards and Campaign Middle East, making him the right person to take on this strategic role,” added Almawed.

The appointment adds to a period of continued momentum for the agency, following the launch of its four branded divisions: Pulse, Sage, Atelier, and FWD, and a growing roster of regional and multinational clients.

“We’re excited to have his expertise in our team, as we continue to grow in our ‘Gambit 3.0’ phase of expansion,” concluded Almawed.
