Doha Film Institute calls creative ad review

Doha Film Institute has called a pitch for its creative advertising business.

The brief is believed to cover branding and above-the-line work, although DFI does maintain an in-house creative team for certain projects. The institute has called the pitch in order to find a partner with a regional presence and to give its international brand positioning and communications a more local flavour.

The incumbent is New York-based 2×4, a design and branding shop that has held the account since 2009 but has no office or organisational affiliate ties in the Middle East. It is  not known if the agency has been included in the pitch process. The institute’s media planning and buying brief is currently serviced on a project basis by Bates PanGulf.

The Qatar-headquartered film institute recently announced that it would be co-financing a feature production of Khalil Gibran’s classic novel, The Prophet. It previously part-financed Black Gold (pictured). Doha Film Institute is an independent cultural organisation established to incorporate the Gulf emirate’s film initiatives under one banner and also hosts the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
