Big tech layoffs continue as AI looms

The move adds to signs that job cuts will continue this year, as companies look to adopt artificial intelligence software and automation to lighten workloads

From the beginning of this month, tech players have been announced round of lay offs one after the other.

Twitch cut about 500 employees which amounts to about third of its staff, while parent company Amazon fired hundreds of people from its Amazon Prime Video and MGM Studio divisions.

Discord also announced layoffs which affected about 170 people (17 per cent of its staff)

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that Google laid off hundreds of employees in its advertising sales team. According to Reuters, the move adds to signs that job cuts will continue this year, as companies look to adopt artificial intelligence software and automation to lighten workloads.
