Campaign’s PR Faces to Watch 2021 — Suzana Saoud, Junior Account Executive, Gambit Communications
Age: 21
Nominated by Jamal Almawed, Founder & Managing Director, Gambit Communications
My first impression of Suzana was a quiet intern amongst a pretty vocal group, but I soon realized she was operating on a whole other level and had to hire her! She is one of those rare finds that is extremely intelligent, a fantastic writer, analytical thinker, and has a quiet work ethic that makes her super productive. Her ability to take huge amounts of technical information from complex industries and turn them into press releases, briefing docs and Q&A’s is a real lifesaver. She will rise fast in this industry, and I hope it will be here at Gambit.
Bio
I work on the B2B team at Gambit Communications, handling fantastic clients such as Amazon Payment Services, Help AG and Swissquote across niche industries like cybersecurity, payment services, fintech and investment banking. Having initially joined the Gambit team for a remote internship in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, I impressed enough to earn a full-time role, and have been lucky enough to work on fantastic B2B campaigns over the past year. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the American University of Sharjah with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in International Studies.
Guiding principles
Take every opportunity to improve yourself and develop your skills, and learn from those that have been at it longer than you. These are my golden rules and they have helped me immensely as I’ve begun my career in PR.
How has Covid changed your job?
I began my first full-time job during the pandemic, so the ‘new normal’ in terms of work was my ‘original normal’! One aspect of this reality is that Covid-19, unfortunately, reduced the opportunities I had to meet clients and media in person.
Side hustle
I love reading and writing creative fiction; it gives me an outlet for my imagination and a way to unwind. I would love to turn my hobby of writing into a proper side hustle, maybe through freelancing or self-publishing.
