Campaign’s PR Faces to Watch 2021 — Krishika Mahesh, PR & Social Media Manager, Matrix Public Relations
Age: 27
Nominated by Melwyn Abraham, PR & Digital Director, Matrix Public Relations
I have been watching Krishika grow and grow at Matrix PR since she joined us and I am really excited about where she is heading.
Krishika shows an amazing aptitude for digital. Her contribution to clients on the digital PR front has led us to awards and nominations by the industry. She is well connected and networks well within the industry and has added numerous skills including design, content for digital, and basics of SEO to her digital repertoire over the last 12 months. She spends a generous amount of time on apps to understand how they could be a key offering to our clients and has volunteered to be part of all our tech client teams.
What I absolutely love about her is that she delves deep into topics and helps the media and the team beyond the scope of her profile. I value the mails the media drop us of their own volition on what a delight she is to interact with. I am sure that she is going to leave her mark on the regional digital PR landscape and beyond. Quote me on that.
Bio
I am a farmer in the communication field.
My own fairy tale took me from an intern to PR & Social Media Manager within a span of 3 years. The seeds were sown with my communications degree from Middlesex University Dubai and my hunt for experience led me to Matrix PR as an Intern in 2015. Like fertile soil, I absorbed everything from content to media relations. I put down roots into the PR community in the region across an array of industries including fashion, finance and technology. I branched out into social media, crisis communications and digital marketing.
My efforts bore fruit as I was promoted year after year into bigger roles, shortlisted as the top 10 candidates for MEPRA’s Young Communicator Award in 2017 and have been part of award-winning campaigns every year since 2017 at MEPRA and PRCA.
My measurement of success however is reaping the respect and trust of the media, clients and most importantly, from my team.
Guiding principles
My 3 guiding principles are wisdom, courage, and strength.
Wisdom to know there is always more to learn, Courage to always do the right thing by clients, media, and my team, and the Strength to own failures and learn from them.
How has Covid changed your job?
Covid actually put me in a position of strength since digital grew exponentially in the PR industry. I had been working on the digital PR side for 3 years prior to COVID and this challenge just pushed me to think more creatively in order to build effective campaigns for clients.
Virtual first, video calls shaping our relationships and working parents have become some of the important conversations in our industry.
Side hustle
Dance has always been my passion and makes me the happiest! I have been training in the Indian Classical Dance form – Kathak – since 2011. I’m a part of a dance company in Dubai that produces dance theatre shows. I occasionally choreograph and teach too.
