Ailidh Smylie, head of strategy, Socialize: Rhia is an extremely diligent, enthusiastic and inspiring member of our team. She leads some of our largest client accounts, (including Volkswagen Middle East and General Mills) with clear strategic direction, building strong relationships as she carves out success for our clients, and, in turn, Socialize. Rhia has actively contributed to a large proportion of our agency revenue, increasing her portfolio spend by more than 20 per cent throughout 2019.
I started my career in Marketing in 2013 after graduating. My first job was at OgilvyOne in the UK, starting as an Account Executive and quickly moving to Account Manager. I decided I wanted more of a challenge, so I moved myself to Ogilvy Dubai to gain regional experience working on one of the world’s largest information technology companies. After two years I moved to Socialize to broaden my understanding of digital and acquire specialist expertise in what I do. From here, I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best in the industry including Volkswagen & General Mills.

That is something I (try to) put in play every day.
I’ve always been a ‘people’ person. When I was younger I wanted to be a midwife – because what is more important and fulfilling than helping bring new life into the world?
I’m currently a wedding planner for my own wedding later this year. I’d love to do something in the future that combines the skills I’ve learnt from marketing and my love for organising/planning for people.
