Jawad takes the reins at Horizon Draftfcb

Horizon Draftfcb has continued its managerial reshuffling with the appointment of Mazen Jawad as head of the agency’s UAE operation.

Jawad, who was previously deputy managing director of the Dubai-based outfit, replaces Eddy Azzam as managing director. It is not known why Azzam has been replaced.

Jawad’s appointment follows the departure of creative director Michael Koeditz last summer and the appointment of Alain Hochar as the network’s first regional creative director. As reported previously, Guilherme Rangel, Y&R’s regional creative director, is also due to join Horizon Draftfcb in February to head up the agency’s Dubai and Lower Gulf teams.

Speaking of Jawad’s appointment, Rafic Saadeh, chairman and CEO of Horizon Group, Middle East, said: “This is a critical appointment for Horizon Draftfcb as the agency is setting even higher goals for the UAE and the region at large. With our new Abu Dhabi office up and running, a spate of recent global client alignments and local wins and a series of other strategic recruitments that will soon be announced, the agency is expanding its horizons and is committed to an even brighter future.”

He added: “Our 35-year experience in the Middle East speaks volumes of our regional know-how and expertise and is a clear testament to our long-term commitment to a region in which we proudly belong and operate. We believe that Mazen’s appointment will imbue a fresh impetus, stimulate our team’s full potential and eventually help it achieve our leadership aspirations,” he added.
Jawad has been with the agency for 17 years.

US headquartered Draftfcb has a 51 per cent stake in Horizon Draftfcb, which is part of the Horizon Group.
