Campaign’s PR Faces to Watch 2022 – Aya Al Khatib, Senior Campaign Executive, Tales & Heads

Age: 28

Margaret Flanagan &  Lisa King, Co-Founders, Tales & Heads: Aya is a rare talent.  Since joining as our first team member at Tales & Heads less than a year ago, she has grown in ability and confidence, honing her existing skills and developing new ones. Smart and strategic with great instincts, Aya is also committed and caring with a moral compass that means she will do the right thing even if it’s not the easy thing. It’s these qualities that engender trust and loyalty from those around her.  If that wasn’t enough, Aya also makes us laugh and plays the piano like a maestro.

Career highlights

I’ve been in communications for around four years, after focusing on my education. I wanted to develop a deeper understanding of multiple marcomms disciplines at a global perspective before starting my career in this dynamic field. At Tales & Heads, I’ve been able to apply those skills on integrated campaigns for clients like Dubai Economy & Tourism, Dubai Fitness Challenge and NBCUniversal.

Great stories come in all shapes and sizes and I want to tell them in ways that move people, whether that’s written or visual – like leading the project for an OSN documentary on E!’s People’s Choice Awards Middle Eastern Social Media Star 2021, or crafting human interest stories in my previous role at UNICEF Jordan.

Guiding principles

Have faith in your own capabilities, don’t be afraid to ask questions, embrace conflict (the healthy kind), and remember that real growth begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Above all else, be human. Don’t underestimate the power of kindness at work or anywhere else.

Side hustle

I’m a classically trained pianist and have been playing the instrument since I was six years old. Other than practising the piano, I love to spend my spare time reading nonfiction books, listening to film scores, and practising yoga and Pilates.
